  1. For fans of The Stooges/Iggy Pop, which mix version of 'Raw Power' do you prefer & why? Different people have different opinions on which version of the mix they like. I think the Bowie mix is more geared towards to the Rock & Roll aesthetic, while the hard-hitting '97 Iggy Mix falls into more of a Punk (protopunk) aesthetic.
  2. So much has been made over the nearly 40 years since "Raw Power" was released about the David Bowie mix that trumped the (botched) work done by Iggy Pop - with "Search and Destroy" being his only mix making it to vinyl - which would lead even the most casual fan to believe there was some golden tape hiding in a vault that would redefine the testy debate/5(12).

  5. Description First released in , "Raw Power" was remixed by lead singer Iggy Pop in That CD is the LOUDEST CD in existence, and consequently one of the worst sounding due to constant clipping and distortion. Five years later on Record Store Day , a limited edition double LP of "Raw Power.
  6. Raw Power, an Album by Iggy and The Stooges. Released in on Legacy (catalog no. CK ; CD). Genres: Proto-Punk, Garage Rock, Hard Rock. Featured peformers: Bruce Dickinson (remixer), Danny Kadar (remixer), Iggy Pop (remixer), Sean Evans (graphic design).
  7. 'Raw Power', despite having, probably, the most mucked-up mixes in the history of mixdom, radiates such, well, raw power, that nothing can spoil the underlying brilliance of the album. Iggy's, 'loudness wars', mix, is almost painful to listen to unless you turn the volume down, plus any bass boost off, whilst the Bowie remaster - even though it definitely improves on the original - requires a volume, and bass, /5().
  8. Oct 27,  · Raw Power is the third and final studio album by The Stooges. Though not initially commercially successful, Raw Power gained a cult fanbase .
  9. Nov 03,  · Probably one of the better repackagings of the Pop-Williamson era. The best of the '72 sessions, some rough Raw Power mixes (the raw "Penetration" is far superior to the Bowie remix!) as well as rougher mixes of the Kill City tracks (in this case, "Johanna" is better stripped)/5(22).
